Spondylitis
Spondylitis is one of the most common causes of back and neck pain and is essentially the result of an inflammation of the vertebral joints. Pain in spondylitis is usually concentrated around the cervical region of the neck, shoulder and lower spine with the instances and stings of pain flowing further downwards. In Ayurvedic terms, when a person indulges in Vata-aggravating diet and lifestyle, then Vata (biological air) circulates Ama(toxins) in the channels of the body and deposits it in the spine discs, causing Amavata. This can also cause swelling and inflammation of the tissues around the spine and lead to long-term/permanent disability. So, Ayurveda focuses on the cleansing of the body of Ama (detoxification procedures), dietary modifications, lifestyle corrections and medications to manage the disease.
