Pain can be described as any physical or mental suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury. No matter however mild the pain is anywhere in the body it lands person in state of discomfort and affects day to day activities. Pain can present in various ways as throbbing pain in toothache, colic pain which comes in spasm as in renal calculi, muscular pain as in sprain, sport injury and joint pain due to inflammatory condition and many more.

In today’s era musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain like pain of arthritis, sciatica, Lumbar spondylosis, migraine, etc are very common. Pain is also categorized as acute or chronic on the basis of duration. Our answer to pain is a pain-killer, which on frequent uses kills our resistance power.

Ayurveda explains the origin of pain due to vitiated Vata dosha and once Vata dosha is treated efficiently, the pain subsides automatically. Many people have a false belief that Ayurveda is not good in curing acute pain and Ayurvedic medicines should only be consumed in chronic pain and it always give very slow result but the thing is they are unaware of the wonderful management of Ayurveda.

Elakizhi

Elakizhi or Patrapotala Sweda is a sudation practice in Ayurveda treatments.It is a highly rejuvenating treatment. Fresh leaves are used tied into cloth boluses. These are dipped into warm medicated oil and used for massaging the body. effective for various kinds of arthritis, spondylitis, back pain, sports injuries and for all other soft tissue inflammations especially joint pains.The massage promotes better circulation within the affected area, induces perspiration which helps the skin to eliminate wastes. It also helps to tone the skin and can be very relaxing

Pizhichil

The medicated oil for the massage therapy is squeezed from a cloth dipped in the warm medicated oil into the patient’s body Improves overall blood circulation, Treats paralysis, arthritis and rheumatic diseases, Improves muscle development.

Navarakizhi

Navarakizhi is a process by which the entire or part of the body is prepared to sweat by external application of medicated rice and herbs tied in a potli. which is used to relieve pain and stiffness in the muscles. It helps in improving muscle strength. Navarakizhi provides nourishment and strength to body tissues including bones, muscles and soft tissues. It is also used for the purpose of rejuvenation of the body .

Kati vasti

Kati vasti involves specially prepared warm herbal oil being poured over the lower back and retained inside the black gram paste boundary for the required duration. enriches the blood, builds and maintains strong muscle and connective tissues and lubricates the joints keeping them flexible and pain free. This therapy alleviates lower back conditions like lumbar spondylitis, inter vertebral disc prolapses, lumbago (low back ache), and sciatica.

Janu vasti

Janu Vasti or Janu Basti is a specialized ayurvedic treatment to relieve the knee pain caused due to arthritis by strengthening the knee muscles and joints. The treatment is performed by pouring & pooling medicated oils for a fixed duration of time in a compartment constructed around the knee joints using wet flour of black gram.

Greeva vasti

Specially prepared warm herbal oil is poured over the neck and retained inside the black gram paste boundary for the required duration in Greeva vasti. enriches the blood, builds and maintains strong muscle and connective tissues and lubricates the joints keeping them flexible and pain free. Greeva vasti alleviates neck and upper back conditions like cervical spondylitis, stiff neck, pain due to over strain, etc.
